The Civilians is a production company that develops original projects based in the creative investigation of actual experience.  Using methods that combine documentary and artistic practices, the company creates engaging shows that illuminate the interplay between the personal and larger social phenomena.

Our current project under development, an investigation of the Evangelical Christian political movement, has inspired a new approach to audience engagement.  We want to build a website that would combine company-created and user-generated content to foster an ongoing conversation about this important topic.  A unique, non-hierarchical navigation system will shape unpredictable paths through the site, exposing users to ideas that will challenge their existing beliefs and encourage respectful, multi-faceted, and productive conversation.

The ideal applicant may be an individual or a team, but would include someone with significant experience in advanced website design, as well as someone with a passion for modern, topical theater.  The project won't make you rich, but it's an opportunity to play a key role in developing both a new technology and a new approach to documentary theater.  Please email kyle@thecivilians.org with your inquiries or application.
