| 01.12 SPF Internship Program 2007 |
The internship program at the Summer Play Festival is designed to give college and unviersity students practical, hands-on experience in both the administrative and production roles in a four week theatre Festival. Each intern will divide his / her time equally in both areas, and will be assigned to a single production for at least three weeks. Interns will be expected to read all plays selected for the Festival, and will be provided time within program hours to do so.
Administrative duties may include general office tasks, assisting other production teams not yet in rehearsal (including your own), house managing and ushering.
Production duties may include prop buying, attending rehearsals, stage management, and assisting members of the crew. Interns are expected to be available for all rehearsals and performances of their production. Schedules will be provided at Orientation.
Late nights (until 11pm) during rehearsals, performances, and ushering duties should be anticipated.
Interns will be able to see the plays during their ushering assignments, or as their schedules allow.
The Internship program also conducts a number of seminars and workshops for interns, at which attendance is considered mandatory. Such programming may include regular "Meet the Writers" sessions; panels on various topics; and workshops designed to improve participants' critical vocabulary.
Opportunities will also be provided for interns to meet industry figures, and learn about the practicalities of a career in the theatre.
The 2007 program will take place from June 25 to August 5, 2007. Internships are unpaid.
