WHAT: A non-stop collision of dynamic music, visceral emotion, and kinetic aerial imagery, Fuerzabruta is one of the most exciting events of the season. Having already taken South America and Europe by storm, this all-new work from the creators of the revolutionary theatre spectacle De La Guarda defies easy categorization. Featuring mind-blowing visual effects that must be seen to be believed - a man running full throttle through a series of moving walls, women frolicking in a watery world suspended just inches above the audience - Fuerzabruta is a theatrical experience that floods the senses.

WHO: Diqui James (De La Guarda Co-founder/Co-creator) and Gaby Kerpel (De La Guarda Composer/Musical Director) have embarked on a project forming a new company that continues to push the boundaries of theatrical creativity, motivation and innovation. Together with Alejandro Garcia and Fabio Daquila, they have created a new form in Fuerzabruta that is devoted to reinventing, transforming, and creating an experience that is unique and unrepeatable.

WHAT: HAYDN Symphony No. 101 in D Major, “The Clock”
SHOSTAKOVICH Symphony No. 4 in C Minor, Op. 43
A longtime champion of Shostakovich’s music, Haitink returns to the Fourth Symphony, recognized as one of the composer’s boldest, most politically charged scores. In fact, the political climate of Russia in the 1930s deprived audiences of this stunning symphony (with its Mahler-like outcry) for nearly 25 years.
Pre-concert talk at 7 PM in Stern/Perelman with Ara Guzelimian, Provost and Dean, The Juilliard School.

WHO: With an international conducting career that has spanned more than five decades, Amsterdam-born Bernard Haitink is one of today's most celebrated conductors. Maestro Haitink has led many of the world's top orchestras, including 25 years at the helm of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam as its music director (1964-1988) and frequent guest appearances with both the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras. He is currently honorary conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conductor emeritus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and an honorary member of the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his longtime leadership role with the Concertgebouw, Mr. Haitink has previously held posts as music director of the Dresden Staatskapelle (2002-2004), the Royal Opera, Covent Garden (1988-2002), Glyndebourne Festival Opera (1978-1988) and the London Philharmonic (1967-1979).

WHAT: In early 2007, George Packer published an article in The New Yorker about Iraqi interpreters who jeopardized their lives on behalf of the Americans in Iraq, with little or no protection or security from the U.S. The article drew national attention to the humanitarian crisis and the moral scandal. Based on Packer’s interviews in Baghdad, Betrayed tells the story of three young Iraqis—two men and one woman-who are motivated to risk everything by America’s promise of freedom. Betrayed explores the complex relationships among the Iraqis themselves and between them and their American supervisor, as they struggle to find purpose while a country collapses around them. Betrayed is directed by Pippin Parker and features Jeremy Beck, Aadya Bedi, Mike Doyle, Ramsey Faragallah, Sevan Greene and Waleed F. Zuaiter.

WHO: Culture Project's mission is to bear witness to injustice, to stimulate challenging conversation about the most profound and urgent matters of our time and to convert interest, energy and engagement into a motivational demand for progressive change. Blending prize-winning theater with urgent moral drama, Culture Project brings the national political conversation to life on the New York Stage.

-The List

The Shalimar's smash hit LA FEMME EST MORTE or Why I Should Not F%!# My Son returns to New York for eight performances at PS122. With text compiled from speeches of General George Patton, General Douglas MacArthur, Winston Churchill, interviews with Lizzie Grubman, Mary Kay Letourneau, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, and Gwyneth Paltrow, and works by Seneca, Georges Bataille, and Brett Easton Ellis, The Shalimar retells the timeless Phaedra myth.
