CAAL Night: Tour of the Broadway Penthouse with Matthew Blesso
Architecture & Design
Broadway Penthouse
684 Broadway
New York, NY 10012
CAAL members have access to an exclusive private tour of the Broadway Penthouse, given by Matthew Blesso, real-estate developer and owner of the Penthouse. The Broadway Penthouse is an open 3,000-square-foot penthouse loft with a 2,100-square-foot roof garden that redefines the boundaries between inside and outside, integrating architecture and landscape design. It challenges the notion of an urban garden and literally "brings the outside in." The collaboration by Owner, Matt Blesso, Blesso Properties; Design Architect, Joel Sanders Architect; Landscape Designer, Balmori Associates; and Interior Designer and Architect of Record, Andrea Steele from AND Architects, the Broadway Penthouse offers a unique and quite stunning interpretation of the green design aesthetic. For more on the Broadway Penthouse, see the New York Times. Please note, this is a private location. It is not open to the public. Prior to founding Blesso Properties, Matthew Blesso worked as a commercial lender, most recently in the Real Estate Finance Group at BHF Bank (now PB Capital), a German bank. Matt earned a BA in Economics with a minor in Finance from the University of Rochester (cum laude) and Masters in Reasl Estate Development from New York University. In addition to managing Blesso Properties, Matt regularly lectures on residential real estate investment and development at the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Matt is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the New York Landmarks Conservancy, the Municipal Arts Society, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, the Urban Land Institute, the New York Preservation Archive Project, and the Manhattan Real Estate Network. he is also a member of Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Citizen Housing and Planning Counsel and a founding member and the chairman of the Leadership Board of the Fourth Arts Block as well as Board member of the Institute For Urban Design.
